Everyone has a dishwasher machine in their house, but not everyone know these tips and tricks that make it easier and more fun to clean the dishes. Below are what I believe the best and most useful tips that you need to know about.
1. Run your sink hot water.
Before turning on the dishwasher, turn on the hot water in the sink until you feel that hot water is running, that way you can make sure that when the dishwasher is filling up it will have hot water to start with. This tip is more favorable in the winter since it takes a long time for the hot water to travel from the water heater to the dishwasher. You’ll see how more clean your dishes will be ๐.
2. Unload lower rack first
When unloading clean dishes, unload bottom rack first and then the top one, that way you do not have water dripping onto the clean dishes when you unload top rack as there may still be some water left on top of bottom of cups.
3. Towel to dry
You know hot sometimes you open the dishwasher and there is still a little bit of water on some cup’s bottoms even though the heat to dry was on. Next time your dishwasher is done, open it, put a dry kitchen towel half way and close the dishwasher, not all the way, just so it’s tightly closed, and leave it for a while. The towel will help absorb some moisture that you will have less water on the dishes.
4. Rinse your dirty dishes
I have seen so many times people say that “you do not need to rinse your dirty dishes before putting it in the dishwasher”. I say other wise, and see if it makes sense. Yes, dishwasher’s these days are very good, and will in fact clean your dishes that they are clean, but, consider how much food left over if floating in the dishwasher while it is washing it, and the next step is that it’s going through all of the pipes and stuff. I believe it’s more sanitary to rinse all dishes best that you can, and give the dishwasher to wash it with soap and dry it, you will have much cleaner dishes, and dishwasher that will serve you for longer time and cleaner.
5. Do not overload it
This is not to say that if you overload it, it can break, it will certainly not, but you will not be happy about how your dishes look when you take them out. Dishwashers work best when the water hits all parts of all dishes, so if you pack it tight, it may not do as good of a job cleaning everything as throughly. So if you see that the machine is getting really full, I personally try to space everything out a little more and have a few cups or plates out in the sink for the next run, it really doesn’t hurt to leave some behind ๐.
6. Take out utensils tray
Everyone probably knows that the utensils tray is removable, next time you unload your clean ones, take the utensils tray and put it on the countertop to make it easier to unload.
7. Clean your dishwasher
This is not as much of a hack, but I wanted to just to remind how important to clean your dishwasher on a regular basis. Your dishwasher is running at least once a day, or even twice on some occasions, so it is very important to clean your dishwasher to make it not only last long, but give you the best result in cleaning dishes. a good rule of thumb in my house is to clean it once or twice a month.
