It is one of the most magical and nerve wrecking at the same time moments of anyone’s life, I mean, you are coming home with a newly born little baby that you have absolutely no idea how to take care of, so it is does make sense to be prepared beforehand, trust me. In this blog post I am speaking of my experience and how my husband and I prepared for the arrival of our little baby girl.
Feeding…
It’s best to be ready beforehand because when you come home, there will be no time for any critical thinking or evaluations, both parents will be tired and the baby will need to be fed and changed very often, so let me share my experience how it went down in our household π.
First things first, we have bought a formula and seven glass bottles (I chose glass instead of plastic for obvious reasons) beforehand and had it cleaned and ready to be used from day one. It’s always better get more bottles because newborn eat every two hours and you go trough them pretty quick, so after couple of feeds we decided to wash them right after feeding so they do not sit too long with the leftover formula, plus you’ll always have clean one ready to go. One thing I wanted to mention, I never gave leftover formula, they say that you can still give it within and hour or so, but I don’t think it’s worth it, just prepare a new one when it’s time to feed I would say.
Below are the bottles and the formula we used to feed our little one from the start.
Changing…
Secondly, changing spot, and this is a big one because babies poop a lot, and I mean, a lot π, so changing table is a must, your back will thank you for that later. On the second floor we also purchased this cart on wheels with three levels where you can put diapers, wipes, and lots of other stuff on it to organize, so it’s easier to take it to another room if you need to (linked down below, you can buy it on Amazon π€©). And on the first floor we’ve got a basket with compartments and filled it up with same stuff so it can too be carried around the house if you chose to change the baby on a couch or something.
Sleeping… π΄
Sleeping is very important for both, baby and the parents, so you have to make sure everyone gets a good night sleep, and to achieve that we found that the Halo Basinet has worked the best up to 5 ish months, until the baby started to want to pull herself up π, then we had to switch to the crib. Halo Basinet is amazing in so many ways, it rotates and swivels, and adjusts up and down, so you can fit it for any bed and because it swivels it’s like you have the baby on the bed next to you, it’s really amazing and worth the cost. And as for the crib, please do your research and pick the one that you feel is best for you, the one we chose is great, it has a changing table and the storage, check it out down below, there are so many options so check it out.
