Like every appliance, dishwashers need to be cleaned too, for better performance and longer lifespan. The good rule of thumb is to clean your dishwasher once a month to prevent a buildup gunk and bacteria, it is cleaning your dishes after all, you want it to be clean. Here I will give your a walkthrough of how to properly clean your dishwasher with these easy steps.
1. Clean the filter
First things first, open the dishwasher and take out the filter that’s located somewhere at the bottom, (each dishwasher is different, but mine is right there, if it’s like mine, all you have to do is twist it and pull it up.) and I like to clean it with a toothbrush and a dish soap, it works really well by removing all the buildup from using the machine for a month, then put it aside, do not install it back just yet, continue to Step 2 without it in the machine.
This is the dishwasher that I always use by the way, I really like it!
2. Dishwasher Cleaner Solution
Put dishwasher cleaner tablet or a solution, whichever you like, this is the one I always use, setup your machine into Clean cycle, close the door, and click Start. Please note that some dishwashers do not have cleaning cycle, so just put it on Heavy and Sani Rinse, if you have these options.
3. Finish
Once the machine is done running through cleaning cycle, open the door and reinstall just cleaned filter and you’re done! Enjoy freshly cleaned dishwasher that’s doing to do clean your dishes better and without any smell.
